Lee County Hospital Authority votes to end agreement with Americore
LEE COUNTY, Va. —
The Lee County Hospital Authority has decided to part ways with Americore, coming to a separation agreement Monday night.
The authority is not releasing the details.
According to the LCHA, the details will be finalized February 1st.
The authority plans to take the hospital back.
They also said the are looking to partner with Ballad Health to re-open the hospital in Pennington Gap.
Last week, LCHA leaders said Americore was "in default" on their agreement to reopen the hospital.
The Lee County Regional Medical Center closed in 2013. At the time, it was run by Wellmont Health System.
The Hospital Authority purchased the property from Wellmont in May 2015.
