Local armed robbery suspect accused of holding wife, daughter at gunpoint following chase

Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a Washington County, Virginia, armed robbery in Georgia. The man is also accused of holding his wife and daughter at gunpoint in the vehicle before his arrest in Georgia.
According to authorities in Georgia, a trooper joined a pursuit of a kidnapping suspect on Interstate 75 south shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday. The trooper joined the pursuit at mile marker 343. Numerous patrol cars were also in the pursuit. Authorities said the suspect, now identified as 36-year-old Brandon Deel, stopped in the middle lane of the interstate and was holding his wife and daughter at gunpoint. Police saw that Deel had a gun in his lap and was refusing to follow commands. A trooper was eventually able to remove the driver from the vehicle and he was taken into custody.
Brandon Deel of Davenport, Virginia, has been charged with the following in Georgia:
Theft of bringing stolen property into the state
Fleeing or attempting to elude
Impeding the flow of traffic
Possession of firearm during a felony
Failure to maintain lane
Cruelty to children
Deel has been charged with the following in connection with the Washington County, Virginia, robbery:
- Felony maliciously shooting in occupied building
- Felony grand larceny of a motor vehicle
- Two counts of felony use of firearm in commission of a felony
- Felony robbery
- Two counts of felony attempted robbery
- Felony carjacking
Deel is being held at the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Georgia.
UPDATE (11:18 p.m. Thursday)
According to the Washington County, Va. Sheriff's Office, and least one of the suspects in a Wednesday armed robbery on Lee Highway, has been captured.
Deputies told News 5 they were found in Georgia.
They vehicle was also recovered.
More information is expected from the sheriff's office on Thursday.
The Washington County VA Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for an armed robbery suspect.
According to Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman, this evening at approximately 6:30 pm a white male subject and two females walked up to a man that was standing outside the Venue & Company located at 15483 Lee Hwy, Bristol, VA and demanded the man to give them his car keys. The victim went back inside at which point the three followed him and again demanded his keys this time while brandishing a pistol. The suspect then fired the pistol into the floor before the suspect and two females exited back outside.
A vehicle was pulling into the parking lot at that time and the suspect ordered the driver out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The male suspect and two females left the parking lot in the vehicle heading north on Lee Highway.
The vehicle the suspect stole is a Black, Mazda 3 Hatchback with Virginia registration WVK-4797.
If anyone sees this vehicle do not approach it, the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Please contact law enforcement if you see the vehicle or have any information.
