Local shelters opening doors for extended hours ahead of snowstorm

Several shelters around the Tri-Cities are making emergency preparations ahead of the impending snowstorm.

If you need help during the storm, here a places you can turn to:


BRISTOL:

Haven of Rest Rescue Mission will accept anyone once temperatures drop below 32 degrees.

Hot soup will be served at the Haven from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. during the red flag emergency.

If you do not wish to stay at the Haven, employees will be handing out blankets and sleeping bags.

Directors of Haven of Rest say they will continue to make more accommodations if the weather becomes more severe.

The Salvation Army will also open its doors throughout the day as temperatures drop below freezing.


KINGSPORT:

Shades of Grace UMC will open its doors at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday as an emergency warming station.

The church will remain open 24/7 throughout the storm.


ELIZABETHTON:

The Carter County Emergency Management Agency will open its doors as a shelter if needed.

The agency is located at 801 E Elk Ave #214, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
