The cold temperatures are dangerous for people who don't have a place to keep warm.

Local shelters are opening their doors tonight.

The Salvation Army has 32 beds for those who need a warm place to stay.

They also have plenty of mats if they run out of beds.

Major Art Fultz says when the temperatures drop, they see an increase in the number of people who need shelter.

"Routinely we run at or about capacity on these very extreme cold weather nights we will see that swell to maybe another dozen folks that we would not ordinarily see," says Major Fultz.

Major Fultz says it is usually first come first serve, but because of the dangerously low temperatures they will find a place for anyone who is in need.
