Members of Georgia to SW Virginia drug ring sentenced in federal court

    Members of a cartel that funneled drugs like oxycodone, heroin and cocaine from Georgia to Southwest Virginia have been sentenced in federal court.

    Audrea Augusta Woodward, 50, of Big Stone Gap, and Paul Thomas Jones, 26, of Pennington Gap, received four and one-year sentences, respectively, according to court information from U.S. District Court in Abingdon on a charge of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute and distributing oxycodone.

    They are two of 11 individuals who have been or will be sentenced following a two-year investigation involving drug purchases from undercover agents, court documents revealed.
