(WBIR / NBC News)

It appears a military plane had to make an unplanned landing at McGhee Tyson Airport Friday morning.

At around 12 p.m. Friday, an Air Force C-17 landed at McGhee Tyson Airport. At this time, it's unclear why the plane made the landing, according to the report from NBC affiliate WBIR.

Immediately after landing, airport crash trucks and 3 AMR ambulances could be seen following the aircraft to a corner of the airport where they were standing by.

By looking at the tail of the aircraft, it appears the plane came from Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina.
