A cannabis oil processing facility project in Bristol, Virginia is one of nine potential projects in a designated district seeking permits from Virginia.

Information supplied to News 5 from the Virginia Board of Pharmacy said nine companies are all vying for one permit to be a cannabis processor for medical use for Health District 3, which is a wide area from Roanoke to the Cumberland Gap.

The mall project was revealed by a local pharmacist involved with a new venture from Dharma Pharmaceuticals. It plans to lease part of the mall from a new owner, which bought the vacant property for $2.6 million.

In August, the pharmacy board is expected to announce selections. There are a total of 49 applications statewide.
