Person hospitalized after shooting in Washington County, Virginia, police say

UPDATE: 10:30P.M.-- Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Blake Andis said at this time they believe the shooting Wednesday night could possibly be from a self-inflicted gunshot would.

The Sheriff added alcohol was involved, and they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

A person is in the hospital after a shooting in Washington County, Virginia.

The shooting happened around six p.m.

According to Sheriff Blake Andis, officers were called to a home on Swinging Branch Road in the Mendota area.

One person was shot at a home and taken to the hospital where they are being treated for their injuries, the sheriff says.

The sheriff added that they are currently speaking with a potential suspect and will update News 5 when more information becomes available.

Sheriff Andis added that he believes the incident was domestic and there is no danger to the public.
