SCOTT COUNTY, Va-- A Southwest Virginia woman has been arrested on felony charges, months after devastating a California couple who believed she was pregnant and would give them her baby.
Elizabeth Ann Jones, 34, of Nicklesville was arrested Monday and charged with eight counts of larceny less than $200 and one count of larceny third or subsequent conviction.
According to court records, a violation of probation hearing is set for May 3 and her trial date is June 26.
Matt and Laura Trayte, a couple from Southern California, said they were promised they could adopt a newborn girl from Elizabeth Jones, who resides in Scott County, Virginia.

Jones admitted she tricked the couple in an exclusive interview with News 5 back in January.
"If I could take it back....I absolutely would," said Jones.
The felony counts listed in the indictment are for nine transactions less than $500. The transactions were for restaurants (Teddy’s, Chili’s, Mustard Seed, Cracker Barrel and Applebee’s), for the Disney Store, baby clothes, and for professional photos they took announcing the adoption.
Jones has been convicted in the past of larceny involving credit card fraud.
