A Carter County, Tennessee woman is arrested and charged after investigators said a family argument between a brother and sister turned violent.

Connie Lee Long, 58, is charged with one count of aggravated assault under domestic violence, according to a report from Sheriff Dexter Lunceford.

Police found her brother Steven D. Long suffering from a gunshot wound to the back just after 10 a.m. Monday night. He told officers that he was walking down the 140 block of Tower Road in the Roan Mountain community when someone in a small car drove up, shot him and then fled the scene. Lunceford noted that Steven Long was intoxicated and uncooperative with officers.

Detectives said that the two siblings had been involved in a verbal confrontation earlier in the evening at their home located on the same road.

Connie Long is being held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Sessions Court in Elizabethton, the sheriff said.
