Police: Man doesn't like food at Johnson City restaurant then holds knife to wife's throat
A complaint over a steak turned into a domestic assault at a Johnson City eatery on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
John Hettinga, 58, was a customer at Longhorn Steakhouse at 2280 North Roan Street and had become angry about his food being cooked incorrectly, the report said.
That is when eyewitnesses told police that Hettinga grabbed a steak knife and held it to the woman's throat when his wife tried to calm him down. He then demanded keys to the couple's vehicle and left the area.
Officers then located Hettinga at his current residence at Woodspring Suites at Pinnacle Drive, taking him into custody and charging him with one count of aggravated domestic assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Sessions Court in Jonesborough.
