Police: Pair of debit card thieves saddled with dozens of fraud charges
Two suspects are in custody and facing numerous charges following a debit card investigation that had 18 victims in Bristol, Virginia.
Uvar Alexander Valera Esquenazi of Sarasota, Florida, and Renier Ramirez-Rodriguez of Louisville, Kentucky are each charged with 77 felony charges and 41 misdemeanor charges of credit/debit card forgery, according to a report issued by the Bristol Virginia Police Department on Friday.
The pair were taken into custody in Jefferson County Jail after they were recognized by officers in White Pine, the report said.
Investigators said the suspects were captured on surveillance video at several locations where they placed skimmers on gas pumps to obtain card numbers and then make fake card using those numbers.
