LEE COUNTY, Va. —
Authorities need your help in tracking down a vehicle they say hit a motorcycle in a fatal hit-and-run crash Tuesday night in Lee County.
According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred in the Woodway community on Route 638/Hickory Flats Road north of Route 58. Police said a 1989 Kawaski Ninja motorcycle was on Route 638 when it was struck by another vehicle which caused the motorcycle to run off the left side of the road and hit a utility pole. The other vehicle fled the scene, police said.
The driver of the motorcycle, 32-year-old Gary L. Tabor, Jr., of Pennington Gap, was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center, but died from his injuries Wednesday.
Police believe the vehicle which fled is blue and may have damage to either the driver's front or passenger's front side. There also may be damage to the hood of the vehicle.
