Police: Shoplifting suspect threatens Kingsport Walmart worker with knife

A man trying to push nearly $1,000 in merchandise out the door of a Kingsport Walmart is being sought by police after he pulled a weapon on a worker trying to stop him.

The incident happened on Sunday just after 10:30 a.m. at the store located on 2500 West Stone Drive, according to a report from the Kingsport Police Department.

When the loss prevention specialist tried to stop the man from exiting, the suspect reached into the cart of stolen goods and pulled out a knife, removed it from the packaging and "raised it in a threatening and aggressive manner" toward the worker, the report said.

The suspect eventually put the knife down then exited the store.
