Public invited to celebration of life service honoring beloved ETSU professor
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.-- A celebration of life service will be held Sunday for a beloved ETSU professor who passed away from his battle with brain cancer.
The ETSU community and the public are invited to be part of a Celebration of Life Service in memory of Dr. Chris Dula on Sunday, January 13, at 1 p.m. in Brooks Gymnasium. Dr. Dula passed away on Janaury 8th a after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
According to the event's webpage, Dr. Dula was a well-known and beloved faculty member who joined the ETSU Department of Psychology in 2004. In addition to being known for his love of music, Dr. Dula was a strong advocate for giving back and serving the community.
During his tenure at ETSU, Dr. Dula claimed the highest honor awarded to an ETSU faculty member, the ETSU Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching, and he was the keynote speaker at Commencement in May 2016. Dr. Dula received numerous awards and honors while at the institution, including the School of Graduate Studies Outstanding Mentor Award in 2015.
To honor Dr. Dula’s tradition of collecting food for those in need, guests attending the Celebration of Life Service on Sunday are encouraged to bring canned food items.
