Scholle IPN plans $10 million investment, 42 new jobs in Smyth County

Governor Ralph Northam delivered news of industrial expansion and new jobs from a Smyth County employer on Thursday.

Scholle IPN, a company that specializes in packaging for various sectors including the agriculture and automotive industry, announced a $10.2 million addition to their existing plant located on Deer Valley Road and 42 new positions to go with it, according to a report from the governor's office.

Company vice president Kent Kisselle said in a prepared release that growth in their business along with an available quality workforce and land space provided the opportunity for the new expansion.

Grants from the Virginia Tobacco Commission and designation within a state-sanctioned Enterprise Zone aided in the improvement plans, the company said.
