NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
Songwriter and composer Floyd Parton passed away Thursday at the age of 61. Two of his most well known songs were Rockin' Years, recorded by his sister Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton and Nickels and Dimes, recorded by Dolly Parton and later by George Burns.
Those close to Floyd called him a renaissance man, an avid outdoorsman, and an incredible cook. The family held a private service.
In lieu of flowers, Parton's family has asked for donations to the My People Senior Activity Center at 1220 W. Main Street, Sevierville, TN 37862.
