Sullivan County man suspected of killing 4-year-old makes first court appearance
BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn.-- —
The man accused of killing a 4-year-old girl this summer in Colonial Heights made his first formal court appearance Friday morning.
Cody Webb, 28, of Surgoinsville was arraigned on first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated child neglect charges in Sullivan County Criminal Court.
He was indicted earlier this month by a grand jury in the death of Addyson Alexis Cain at a home in Colonial Heights in August in a case that detectives first ruled suspicious. The little girl's death was then ruled a homicide following an autopsy. Later that month, he was indicted for tampering with evidence in relation to the case.
Police initially did not release the name of the victim which was found in court documents obtained by WCYB.
Webb remains jailed on a $250,000 bond and has another court appearance scheduled for Feb. 1 at 9 a.m.
