UPDATE: Suspect apprehended after brief chase in Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn-- Officers have arrested a man after he threatened to shoot someone, and ran from officers.

According to Lt. Shepard with the Johnson City Police Department, Marcus Anthony Cardwell, 20, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with altered serial number, evading arrest (2 counts), and resisting arrest.

At 2:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Wilson Avenue regarding a threats call. The victim told dispatchers that Cardwell threatened to shoot them and was packing back and forth in front of the residence.

When officers arrived, Cardwell fled on foot.

An investigation revealed that Cardwell had obtained transportation away from the area and a vehicle description was obtained. The vehicle was located in the Keystone Community and Cardwell was observed by officers as a passenger. A traffic stop was performed and Cardwell fled from the vehicle on foot and resisted arrest while being taken into custody.

Cardwell was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. Arraignment is set for 9:00 a.m. on 1/14/19 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
