TBI says Virginia man fired shots at deputies in Morristown
A Tazewell County, Virginia man is being held on a $1.6 million bond after he fired shots at deputies pursuing him in Morristown, Tennessee, the TBI reported Friday.
Christopher Allen Deel, 32, of Raven, is charged with one count of attempted first degree murder and three counts of felony reckless endangerment, the agency said.
Hamblen County deputies had received a report of a stolen truck out of Jefferson County on Thursday and spotted Deel in the vehicle. Deel then shot at the deputies with one of the bullets striking a patrol cruiser, according to the report.
Deel was taken in custody a short time later and he remains jailed in the Hamblen County Jail.
