UPDATE: Abingdon woman pleads no contest in Aug. 2017 death of husband
ABINGDON, Va. —
A Washington County, Virginia woman is facing up to 10 years in prison after entering a no contest plea in Circuit Court on Thursday in relation to the shooting death of her husband summer.
Ginger Claudine McIntyre, 50, pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter and will be sentenced on Nov. 2.
Officers were called to the 18000 block of Ironwood Loop on Aug. 27 and found Randy Lee McIntyre, 55, dead at the scene.
Neighbors told WCYB that this was not the first time police had visited the home and hearing gunshots coming from the property was not uncommon.
A check of police records showed deputies were called to the McIntyre nine times and two of those situations were for domestic disturbances.
Ginger McIntyre was originally charged with second-degree murder.
