A Sullivan County couple appeared in court Tuesday on charges they killed the woman's ex-husband in broad daylight outside Bristol, Tennessee’s Walmart.
Michael Heatherly was a vendor for Walmart and was shot and killed outside his car in the parking lot in September 2017.
His ex-wife, Ashley, and her husband Michael Strouth are free on bond and have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the killing.
Police say they found evidence the Strouths researched on the internet how to avoid detection and apprehension following the murder.
They don’t have to return to court until April 8. Prosecutors say a trial date may be set then.
