UPDATE: Four charged with attempted murder in Carter County bound over to grand jury
The four suspects that police said took a man to a field outside of Elizabethton and seriously assaulted him had their charges bound over to a grand jury on Wednesday.
Kasey Miller, 31, Matthew Duane Dye, 20, Ross Bee Kelly, 38, and Michael Todd Silcox, 41, are all charged with attempted first degree murder and the incident was caught on video. That footage was shown in Carter County Sessions Court on Wednesday and WCYB made a request to Judge Keith Bowers, Jr. for a better quality copy of the video and was denied.
The video captured on Miller's cell phone showed Miller assaulting the victim identified Wednesday as Matthew Lewandowski with a steel bat while Dye held him down. The footage also showed being stabbed in the neck.
Defense attorneys argued that Kelly and Silcox should not be charged because they didn't actually touch the victim. Lewandowski remains hospitalized, according to court information.
Miller is also charged with aggravated kidnapping. All four will appear again in court on Sept. 19.
