A Johnson City woman who entered an Alford plea in May to the charge of shooting her husband in 2016 was sentenced Wednesday in Washington County, Tennessee Criminal Court.

Keeva Ann Delaney will serve 30 days in jail every June beginning in 2019 for nine years, according to court information, for her conviction on a voluntary manslaughter charge.

An Alford plea means Delaney did not admit guilt but acknowledges there is enough evidence to convict her.

Aaron Delaney, 26 was pronounced dead when police arrived to the couple's apartment complex on Edna Drive. Police told News 5 that an altercation between the two took place prior to the shooting. The victim died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Keeva Delaney claimed the gun accidentally went off during the fight.
