A juvenile has been arrested and charged after posting what police found to be a phony shooting threat on Facebook involving Castlewood High School, Sheriff Steve Dye said Monday.

Evidence was presented to Commonwealth's Attorney Brian Patton and the charges were issued against the child who reportedly posted a picture of someone holding a rifle with the message "Ready for Castlewood VA on Monday" that was circulated on both Facebook and Snapchat, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Deputies interviewed the juvenile then seized their cellular phone device as evidence, according to Dye.

The arrest marks another event in a busy day for Russell County investigators who were also dispatched to Honaker High after reports of a phone threat to that campus. Dye concluded that threat was also false following a search and placing that school in a soft lockdown mode for a good portion of the instructional day.
