UPDATE: New charges filed against Kingsport man in officer-involved shooting in May
A slew of new charges are pending now against the Kingsport, Tennessee man who police say traded gunfire with a state trooper and was wounded on Interstate 81.
Kenneth Powell was set to appear in court today for a preliminary hearing.
But it was delayed because of new charges filed in addition to the original- attempted murder of a police officer.
Police say the 25-year-old was pulled off the side of the road in Greene County in a stolen truck in May.
When a trooper approached, Powell is accused of shooting at him, but the trooper also fired and wounded Powell.
The new charges including theft of the truck, evading arrest, resisting a traffic stop, simple possession of drugs, and driving without a license.
The court hearing was reset for Friday.
