Johnathan Whitaker surrendered to police on Friday to serve a year in jail for leaving the scene of deadly accident in Sullivan County, Tennessee.

It finally resolves the case that’s been pending since Whitaker’s car hit and killed Allen Harr on his bicycle on Island Road in December 2015.

Prosecutors said there was no evidence that Whitaker was negligent or driving recklessly when the accident happened.

But he pleaded guilty to leaving the scene and tampering with evidence by trying to conceal the car he was driving.
