HURLEY, Va. — Violations have been issued to a company whose underground mine was the source of a blowout near Hurley last week.
CM Mining, LLC was issued one cessation order for causing imminent danger to public health and safety and two notices of violation.
The company also must submit a plan for the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy's review and approval that addresses water conditions of the underground works. The company must also remove and proper dispose sediment and debris that resulted from the mine blowout and repair of any eroded and other impacted areas located below the site of the blowout.
