VSP investigating Scott County suspicious death

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.

VSP said Jason Borders is now in police custody.

They said he was taken into custody in Hawkins County, TN and will be held there until extradition back to Virginia.

The investigation into the suspicious death of his wife, 40-year-old Eva Borders remains ongoing..


UPDATE: 5:35 p.m.

The Scott County Commonwealth's Attorney Office identified the victim as Eva Borders. Officials tell us the victim and the suspect, Jason Borders, were married.


UPDATE: 3:20 p.m.

Virginia State Police said Weber City Police responded to a 911 call at a home in the 100 block of Charleston Street. Officers found a deceased adult female inside the home.

VSP said 43-year-old Jason Scott Borders of Weber City, Va., is wanted for questioning in the woman's death, which is being investigated as suspicious in nature.

State police are also investigating an incident involving Borders and a juvenile female. As a result of this investigation, state police has secured the following warrants for Borders' arrest: one felony count of abduction, one felony count of child neglect and one felony count of assault.

Borders is believed to be driving a black 2006 Honda Civic with Virginia license plate VXL 6035.

He is a white male with hazel eyes and dark brown/black hair. He is 5'10 in height and weighs approximately 250 lbs.

The victim is being taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for examination and autopsy. State police are not releasing her information at this time.


UPDATE: VSP confirms to News 5 the suspect they are searching for is Jason Borders. Officials said this is a suspicious death investigation.


Virginia State Police investigators are on the scene of a suspicious death in the Weber City area.

We've learned one person died in the incident.

According to Scott County deputies, they have been at the scene since about 6 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies said a suspect is "outstanding."
