Pedestrian hit by train in Bristol, TN
Early Sunday morning, Bristol, Tennessee police released new details about the train vs. pedestrian incident that occurred on Saturday night.
According to police, they responded to the scene at the Hazelwood Avenue crossing around 800 p.m. on Saturday.
They say a juvenile male was walking near the railroad and was wearing headphones and listening to music. Police say the juvenile didn't hear the train coming and was struck by the train.
They say the victim was transported to the emergency room and is expected to be okay.
Police say they are still investigating the incident.
Norfolk Southern tells News 5 that one of their trains hit a person who was on the railroad tracks Saturday evening in Bristol, TN.
Our crew on scene saw police, EMS and fire crews near the scene at Hazlewood Street Railroad Crossing. One male patient was loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance, where he was transported to a basketball court behind the Food City on Hwy 421. There, a Balled Health Medical Helicopter was waiting to transport him to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Due to the accident, any train crossing from the Bristol Train Station/State Street in the direction of South Holston Lake will be closed for awhile while crews investigate.
