Woman charged for TennCare fraud for sixth time, this time in Sullivan County
A Florida woman convicted in three cases of TennCare fraud is facing her sixth-related charge, this time in Sullivan County, according to state officials.
The Tennessee Inspector General's Office says Desiree McIntyre, 29, of Ocala, has been charged with three counts of TennCare fraud by doctor shopping. She is accused of visiting multiple doctors using the service in order to obtain prescription medication.
McIntyre's cases date back to 2012 in Cocke, Sevier and Hamblen counties where she was convicted of doctor shopping for pain killers including Oxycodone and using TennCare as payment, the report said.
The latest figures from the state indicate more than 3,000 people have been charged with TennCare fraud since the OIC operation began investigations in 2005.
