Ohio humane society says cat injured when lit firecracker was placed in it's rectum
RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio —
A $500 reward has been offered by a humane society in Ohio to find the culprit in a brutal animal cruelty case that happened earlier this week.
A cat named 'Katy P' is out of surgery with an guarded prognosis after she received treatment when someone lit a firecracker and placed it in the cat's rectum, according to a report from NBC affiliate WTHR and the Humane Society of Richland County.
"We don't know if she will be incontinent or unable to defecate. We should know that in a few days. She will be at Phillips Animal Hospital for observation," the agency wrote in an update on Katy's condition posted on Facebook.
A resident at an apartment complex in Mansfield, Ohio where the incident took place told the society that the cat had been on the premises for about a year and had become a community cat.
An account has been established by the humane society to help pay the medical expenses for the animal.
