Police: North Carolina mom padlocked three kids inside apartment
Kinston Police arrested a woman and charged her with child abuse after three children were found locked in a room in her home.
April Christine Berry of 510 South Davis St. Apt. D was arrested and placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $3,000 secured bond. Officials said on Wednesday around 6:20 a.m. officers responded to the residence in reference to a report of children locked in a room. Officers found a room padlocked from the outside. When they opened the door, they found three children, ages 4, 6 and 8, inside. The children were sleeping on the floor in the room.
Officials said the Lenoir County Department of Social Services was contacted and arrangements were made for the children.
