Report: Paul Manafort close to guilty plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller

    WASHINGTON (Circa) - Paul Manafort, former campaign chair to President Donald Trump, is close to making a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller for a guilty plea, according to a CNN report.

    The report states that this plea deal was expected ahead of his upcoming trial on allegations of illegal foreign lobbying. A pre-trial motion hearing is scheduled for this Friday.

    The deal is expected to address the charges Manafort faces in both DC and Virginia.

    A report by ABC News said that a tentative guilty plea deal had been reached.

    Manafort's legal team was seen at the special counsel's office, according to CNN.
