Volunteers from around the country with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have been in North Carolina over the past week helping to recover pets that were left behind by property owners in the wake of Hurricane Florence.

One of the those rescues was captured on video as a worker spotted a retriever pacing on a porch of a Lumberton home completely surrounded by flood waters.

The concerned behavior of the dog slowly melts away as the worker pets the dog then gives him a kiss on the forehead.
