A Kingsport man accused of killing his wife by strangulation appeared in court Friday.

Randall Neece was appointed a public defender and his bond was increased from $250,000 to $400,000.

Police and prosecutors said Neece first tried to smother his wife, Lakeesha with a shower curtain in January at their home in the Rock Springs area. Authorities added he then strangled her with an electric cord and called 911 to report she was dead.

Neece is due back in court on May 21.
