Breaking Overnight: Police officials asking for help finding man accused of shooting an officer

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}Law enforcement across East Tennessee is searching for the man accused of shooting a police officer last night in Knoxville.

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}Knoxville Police say 31-year-old Ronnie Lucas Wilson shot one of their officers during a routine traffic stop.

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}It happened along Washington Pike in North Knoxville, just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}Authorities say the officer pulled Wilson over for speeding, and investigators say that is when Wilson shot the 14-year veteran officer in the shoulder, then took off.

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}Reports say the officer did not return fire. He was taken to the hospital, where the police Chief says he is expected to recover.

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}Police are asking the public to keep a look out for Wilson, known to be driving a mid-70’s Chevy Nova with a red stripe on the hood.

{p style="margin-bottom:.0001pt; margin:0in 0in 8pt"}Wilson is considered armed and dangerous.
