Christmas Grinch?: Rogersville woman charged after stealing package
Police said a Hawkins County, Tennessee resident had suspected her neighbor was coming over and taking packages left by delivery services on her porch.
A report says some trickery by the homeowner worked as she photographed the suspect getting the box then confronted her with the evidence.
Brenda Kay Clevinger, 49, was arrested and charged with one count of theft of property under $1,000 and criminal trespassing, according to the offense report obtained by News 5.
The victim told officers that she was expecting a delivery on Dec. 8 and made it appear as if they were not at home that day. A delivery truck dropped off a $300 hoverboard and Clevinger was then captured on camera coming over and taking the package.
Police said the victim had reportedly had problems in the past with Clevinger being near her home without permission.
Clevinger told the deputy she was holding onto the package for safe keeping. She was released after posting bail.
