Pardners BBQ in Piney Flats seized for unpaid taxes
UPDATE, 2:30 p.m.
Sullivan County records obtained by News 5 on Wednesday show that the owners of Pardners BBQ in Piney Flats owe more than $14,000 in back taxes.
A county official also stated that 2015 past due taxes will be levied against the owner in April.
The restaurant was seized by state tax officials and closed to the public on Wednesday morning.
A local barbecue restaurant has had its doors closed by the state over a tax issue.
Officers were on the scene Wednesday as workers changed the locks on the doors of Pardners Bar B Que and Steak in Piney Flats.
A notice taped to the front door says the property had been seized by the Department of Revenue, Tax Enforcement Division for nonpayment of Tennessee State taxes.
Officials at the site would not comment on the case and referred all questions to a state tax office.
A TN Department of Revenue Director of Communications spokesperson told News 5 in an email that the agency is prohibited from providing information about individual taxpayers according to state code.
