Police: Attempted murder suspect in Blountville held gun to victim's head, fired shots
A Sullivan County, Tennessee resident is charged with attempted murder after holding a gun to the victim's head then firing several shots.
Robert Mendenhall, 42, was arrested in Unicoi County after fleeing the home located on Willow Creek Drive in Blountville on Saturday. He is facing two counts of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated domestic assault, the report said.
Deputies were dispatched to the home after the victim called authorities and said Mendenhall had a gun to their head. Operators then heard shots being fired inside the home.
Upon arrival, the victim told officers they were watching television when the incident occurred. Mendenhall fired his gun at the victim and then at a neighbor who was driving by, police said.
A total of 20 weapons were recovered from the home. Mendenhall is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Sullivan County Jail. He will appear in Sessions Court on Jan. 20.
