Sheriff: 3 charged in 'brutal' Hawkins County murder

Three people have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with what Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson called a "brutal" murder.

The remains of Callie Mahayla Ison, 26, of Big Stone Gap were found on November 24 in the area of East Pumpkin Valley Road in the Clinch Community. An autopsy revealed Ison was shot multiple times.

The three people charged with first-degree murder are:

  • Charles Timothy Gray, 25, Louisville Ky.
  • William Cody Mullins, 23, Tellico Plains, Tenn.
  • Augusta Dawn Hall, 27, Johnson City, Tenn.

The bond for all three has been set at $1,000,000 each.

Mullins is currently being held in the Hawkins County Jail. Gray is currently being held in Louisville, Ky. Hall is being held in Georgia.

Gray and Hall are both expected to be brought to the Hawkins County Jail next week.

No arraignment date has been set yet.
