Sheriff: Homicide victim identified in Hawkins County
Authorities have released the name of a woman whose remains were found in Hawkins County on November 24.
According to Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson, the woman was 26-year-old Callie Mahayla Ison of Big Stone Gap. Authorities have ruled the case a homicide.
Authorities responded to East Pumpkin Valley Road in the Clinch Community in reference to human remains found in a creek by a deer hunter last month.
Sheriff Lawson added that all leads are being vigorously pursued and that a person of interest has been developed as a result of the investigation.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office.
