UPDATE: Three charged in Bluff City election case arraigned

Three individuals charged with a voter law violation in the May town elections in Bluff City were arraigned in Sessions Court on Monday.

Councilman John R. Harrison, Brook Morrell and her aunt Sullivan County Commissioner Sherry Grubb appeared before Judge Klyne Lauderback in Bristol, Tennessee after each were served with a criminal summons last week.

The three were the subject of a TBI investigation after a request from Administrator of Elections Jason Booher and District Attorney Barry Staubus following complaints lodged by telephone and in person by concerned citizens about the three individuals being seen in spaces only designated for election workers inside the town's polling place on May 16.

They are scheduled to return to court on Oct. 11.

Harrison was also arraigned on Monday for charges of vandalism and domestic assault. An affidavit obtained by News 5 says the suspect and a family member got into a verbal then physical altercation inside Harrison's mother's home on July 5.

He was also served with orders of protections taken out against him by three family members, according to court information. Harrison will be back in court on those particular charges on Sept. 6.
