Family Race Night proceeds go to two local nonprofits
BRISTOL, Va. - Two Bristol nonprofits benefitted from Food City's Family Race Night. Bristol Ballet and Theatre Bristol each received a check for $3,750 Tuesday. The money was raised at the Family Race Night event in August.
"When Lisa called and told me we had been selected, I was floored," Theatre Bristol Executive Director Samantha Gray said. "I was absolutely thrilled because it didn't just mean a contribution, it meant the exposure in the community."
Bristol Ballet plans to use the money to fund its school performances and to lower tuition and ticket prices. Theatre Bristol will use the money to provide summer scholarships, lower prices for school groups, and work on the theater's space in downtown Bristol.
This is the 30th year Food City Family Race Night proceeds are helping local nonprofits.
