BVU and TVA power supply alert in effect

Brrrrr!: TVA announces peak power demand holiday milestone

A power supply alert is now in effect across the TVA service area due to the extremely low temperatures.

BVU and the TVA is asking customers to conserve non-essential power.

Peak power demand is expected to occur Tuesday morning as regional temperatures drop into single digits, causing electricity demand to spike.

{p class="MsoPlainText" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt"}·      Turning down thermostats 2-3 degrees. Lowering the temperature just one degree can result in a savings of up to 3 percent.

{p class="MsoPlainText" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt"}·      Postponing use of electric appliances, such as dishwashers, dryers and cooking equipment.
