Drive-by shooting seriously injures one, police now searching for suspect


A drive-by shooting in Wise County, Virginia has left one man injured and police still searching for the suspect.

According to the Wise County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened on Back Valley Road in Big Stone Gap around 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.

They say the shooter was driving his car when he pulled over on Back Valley Road and shot into a garage on the street-- injuring 50-year-old Chris Standifer.

Police say the suspect then got back into his car and drove off.

They say Standifer was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center were he underwent emergency surgery, but is now in stable condition.

Police are still searching for the shooter.
