WISE, Va. — A man pleaded guilty in Wise County Circuit Court Monday to multiple charges in connection with the attack of a senior citizen which occurred back in 2016.
Jermaine Christopher Johnson, 33, of Wise, pleaded guilty to malicious wounding, attempted second-degree murder, stabbing in the commission of a felony, and trespassing.
According to authorities, Johnson tried to break in to a house in October 2016. The property owner then went outside the house and asked Johnson what he was doing. Johnson then attacked the man with a handheld garden tool. The victim was slammed onto the ground and stabbed multiple times between the eyes, on top of his head, and on the back of his head. The victim had serious injuries, but a Good Samaritan witnessed the attack and rushed to help the victim.
Johnson will be sentenced September 17 and faces up to 36 years in prison.
