A Marion man will spend 30 days in jail after he was charged with shooting a home intruder during an incident back in September.

Investigators said William Sheets encountered two men in his home. A struggle ensued which extended to outside the residence, and eventually to a vehicle. Sheets fired several shots, resulting in William Randall Jones, 30, suffering two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Jones, and Lon Jeffery Mulkey, 37, were each charged with burglary and attempted petit larceny.

Sheets was originally charged with felony unlawful wounding and felony maliciously shooting into an occupied vehicle. He entered an Alford Plea to lesser misdemeanor charges of brandishing a firearm and assault and battery.

An Alford plea means Sheets did not admit guilt but acknowledged there was enough evidence to convict him.
