Pennington Gap police find syringes, needles in Leeman Field Park play areas
The Pennington Gap Police Department is telling all visitors to stay away from the area of Leeman Field Park after syringes and needles were found in the sandbox and volleyball court areas.
Officers were called to the area around 3:30 p.m. Thursday and retrieved two syringes and needles. Authorities are asking all visitors to avoid the area and not to allow children to play in the sand. Public works will be marking this area off.
The issue will be discussed on Monday at the council meeting. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call 276-546-1177.
Police added that it is "sickening that any individual would place these items in a child's play area."
