Officials with Virginia State Police said the driver, 47-year-old Brian Hicks of Bristol, Tennessee was charged with reckless driving. They say he was wearing a seat belt and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a minor injury.

They say Old Jonesboro Road, which runs underneath the overpass by exit 14 is closed as crews work to clear and upright the tractor-trailer. Hazmat crews responded to the scene to manage the leakage of diesel fuel from the damage tractor-trailer.

According to VSP's 511 website, as of 2:49, the south right lane, right shoulder and entrance ramp are closed. They say to expect delays.

A FedEx truck traveling on I-81 in Washington County, Virginia crashed near mile marker 14, shutting down all southbound lanes Sunday morning. Traffic was backed up to Exit 17 at one time.

Virginia State Police say part of its trailer was hanging off the bridge at Old Jonesborough Road. We're told hazmat crews were called to the scene because fuel was leaking. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

VSP tells News 5 that motorists traveling southbound should expect increased volume and some ramp closures. Detours were in place Sunday morning.
